Apple Issues iPhone Update to Fix Security Flaw

Today Apple made iPhone OS 3.0.1 available for end users via iTunes. The new software update fixes a widely publicized security flaw in which hackers could gain control of an iPhone through its SMS application. No new features are being introduced at this time and all iPhone users are encouraged to update their phones.

Caution for HTC, Android and Windows users also.

These products have been named as well for being hacked. GSM devices seem to be the target of success. CDMA not yet. Android supposedly fixed their issue. No word from Microsoft.
What about Blackberry?

how-to step by step request

Would anyone mind posting how to do this step-by-step? This way I don't have to go find it myself 🙂 I'm firewalled at work so I have to wait till i get home. I want to try this on my friends un-updated iphone next to me and see what I can do to it.
step 1 go home
step 2 get on itunes
step 3 plug in iphone
step 4 download 3.01 update
