Today Verizon Wireless said it is going to provide a software update for the Samsung Omnia that unlocks the GPS and lets it interact with third-party applications, such as Google Maps. The software is available from Verizon Wireless as a download.
Just in time to move in with the Omnia 2?
Let's all hope so. It's mid-July and as each day passes it seems like the "anonymous tip" about Omnia 2 coming to Verizon in July is baloney.
I feel bad for those who have not had there GPS unlocked yet. As I've had my Omnia unlocked for at least a good month. Verizon was a bit $hitty to there customers to lock it in the first place as it was intend not to be locked. I love my Omnia so ...

I'm still waiting for the Q9c and Q9m to have the GPS unlocked
Don't count on it. Both are older phones that if they are not officially discontinued yet, more than likely will be shortly.
They'll update all the newer phones, but I highly doubt they'll update legacy devices.
I feel your pain, I'm waiting for the 6800's to be unlocked. I e-mailed them a long time ago, got a call yesterday (went to voicemail), called back and wasn't able to find out anything.
