Today Verizon Wireless announced the USB1000 Global Modem, a new dongle for laptops that will let subscribers access 3G wireless networks both in the U.S. and when traveling overseas. Radios on-board include 800/1900 EVDO Rev. A, quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 850/1900/2100MHz WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA. The USB1000, which is made by Novatel, will cost $150 after mail-in rebate with new agreement. Verizon is offering several plans with the new device, starting with a $130-per-month global roaming plan that includes 5GB of data in the U.S. and 100MB abroad. It is also offering a $220 plan that bumps up foreign roaming to 200MB. The USB1000 requires a minimum 5GB plan in the U.S. for $60 per month. It wil be available online beginning June 19.
