Nokia recently announced that it is going to provide access to thousands of unused patents to other companies that may be able to use them. The Nokia Technopolis Innovation Mill is a joint effort between Nokia, Technopolis, Tekes, and several cities in Finland. Some of the patents include technology related to location based services, near field communications, mobile security, future internet services, and many more. The Innovation Mill will match patents with companies that will best be able to exploit them.

Nokia makes me proud to be a Finn 🙂 This had to be do to really Open Source Symbian. I hope they do release enough patents to make Open Source Symbian survive.
