Virgin Mobile USA is rolling out new national prepaid plans and a new unemployment assistance program. The new Totally Unlimited plan, which costs $50 per month, includes unlimited voice minutes with no roaming or other extra charges. Virgin is also offering a plan specifically for heavy texters. Customers interested more in messaging services than voice services can get 1000 messages (SMS, IM, MMS, email) for $15 per month, or unlimited messaging for $20. Voice minutes will cost 10 cents each. Lastly, Virgin is also announcing that it will cover monthly service charges (includes taxes and fees) for up to three months for customers who become unemployed. In order to be eligible for unemployment assistance, customers will have to be with Virgin for at least two months, and will have to prove eligibility for state unemployment benefits. Any plan at $30, $40, or $50 will be eligible. New customers will automatically be enrolled in the program, existing customers will need to enroll by June 30.
