Obama Makes Genachowski Nomination Official

President Barack Obama has nominated Julius Genachowski to be the next chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. Genachowski had previously been listed by Obama as a potential nominee. Once approved by Congress, Genachowski will take the reigns from acting chairman, Michael Copps. Obama will also have to nominate a republican to replace former commissioner Deborah Taylor, who left the FCC in December.

Google this week announced new requirements for Android apps listed in the Google Play store to clearly disclose what user data the app collects, how it's used, how it's shared, how it's protected (such as encryption), and what choices users have in regard to that data. Also required is whether the app meets Google's requirements for family-friendly apps.

Apple Makes Major App Store Concession on Media Subscriptions

Starting early next year, Apple will allow media player apps like Spotify and Netflix to direct new users to subscribe via their own web sites and third-party payment systems. Previously, Apple required such apps to use Apple's payment system, where Apples takes a cut of up to 30%.

Anyone have any insights on either the new or the past players in this position? Im off to do my homework in this matter....
