Today Verizon Wireless made the first firmware update available for the BlackBerry Storm 9530. The update is available through Verizon Wireless's Web site support pages, as well as the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Verizon will also push an over-the-air update to the Storm beginning at 9:30 PM Pacific Standard Time on Friday, December 4. Verizon did not say what the firmware update fixes nor if it adds any new features to the Storm.

So will PS redo or edit their review to reflect the new software?

?? that would be nice.
They should review or update their review a couple of months down the road I hope.

If we re-review every phone that gets a new firmware update, we won't have time to write reviews of new phones.

Other phones that have seen major improvements with firmware upgrades that we haven't re-reviewed: iPhone, iPhone 3G, any WinMo phone u...

I'm sure the ten people who didn't return theirs will appreciate this!

Why on earth didn't they just delay this device a month? I returned mine last week after bitter frustration. I expect half-baked devices from HTC, not RIM. This device had such obvious flaws (not-finger-friendly UI, sluggishness, numerous glitches, terrible autocorrect implementation, and that useless clickscreen)

Up until the Storm, Blackberries were professional-grade devices centered around reliability and efficiency. Now they're just cheap toys sitting in the shadow of the iPhone and G1. (Don't believe me? Why else would RIM develop something so far outside of their core competency when they couldn't get it right?)
RIM fell victim to the plunder of touch devices. RIM has always been a trend setter, not with this one though. They felt the pressure from the public and tried to make a "regular customer" device. (meaning not solely a business phone). They followed t...

judging by your post and review history I can determine that:

a. you are an iPhone fanboy
b. you dislike verizon
c. you have at&t and may even work for them

THUS, your opinion means little here.

They should have renamed the Storm to...

Introducing the newest Blackberry device. Running on the nations largest 3G network. The all new F.E.M.A Slow to respond with not a lot of satisfying results. hahahahahahahaha

So, with the update ... is it better?

I came here hoping to read the answer to that question, but managed to only find 30+ posts of a pissing contest over "they should never have released it" / "serves you right for not waiting" / "my cell phone company is better than your cell phone company".

So, not really caring about any of all that whining and dirt kicking ... can someone say what the fix provided? Is the phone better now? Are there still painful issues? I'm thinking about getting this phone maybe in January or February after everything settles down and would like to know if it's getting better. I've never used a Blackberry before so I don't have anything to compare it to except for my reliable LG VX8600 and my IPod touch (which yes, isn't a phone, but it's as cl...

Instead of all this garbage talk....

Why doesn't someone actually post something that states how the storm is running now with the new OS version. This would be more useful that your useless opinions on whether you like or dislike the storm.

Accelerometer seems too touchy after .75 update

First, the phone would not flip between portrait and landscape fast enough for some.

Now, for me at least, the accelerometer wants to flip with every little twitch of the device.

Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks!

VZW update overwrites the leaked update

When I plugged in my Storm this evening, the Desktop Software said there was an update for my Berry, so I let it do its thing.

In the end, it overwrote the leaked version with the official version, even though they both versions end in .75

Anyone else experience this?
I wasn't able to get Desktop manager to overwrite the leaked version so I wiped the leaked OS and reinstalled with the official version.

I think the leaked version is 4.7.0.75.107 and the "official" version is just 4.7.0.75

Unknown if there are ...
