Sprint Drops Price of Family Locator Service

Starting October 31, Sprint customers can sign up for the GPS-powered Family Locator service for $5 per line per month. The service previously cost $10 per month.

Good Deal but...

This is a small price to pay for your kids safety and feel it is worth it.

But not so sure it would work just to keep tabs on your troubled kid/Spouse. Does this work when the handset is off? I don't believe it does. So your kid or spouse could elude any detection by shutting their phone off and using a friends or lovers. Also there is a way to shut off the GPS on the phone anyway except for the 911. Can someone correct me if I am wrong?

But again for safety, it is worth it.
It doesn't work if the handset is off, but you will be able to tell, because there is a feature that will show where your child has been. If there's a big hole in there, I guess your kid has some 'splainin' to do.

I think overall this feature is great for tracking, but YES it can be turned off on the handset and also your child/spouse gets a text to their phone when being tracked. Ooopps, your caught!

How is this cheaper?

It used to be $10. That covered all lines on a family plan.

Now its $5 per line. Chances are you will want to sign up at least 2 lines if not more.

I really don't see it being cheaper. For most, it will probably be more expensive!
