Report: Nokia to Launch Touch Device Next Week

According to sources cited by Reuters, Nokia will unveil its first touchscreen phone at an event in London on October 2. Earlier this year, Nokia confirmed that it would offer a touch-based phone by the end of 2008. Reuters did not confirm any details about the phone.

not their 1st touch screen

the Nokia 7710 which i have was one as was the 7700. these phones came out in late 04 early 05.
Maybe they are talking about like the iphone. a full touch without the array of buttons located around the casing. They specifically mentioned the iphone. But also mentioned "first touch based". Rather odd. Was the 7710 and 7700 mass produced?

Wow, I just checked out the 7710 and it was awesome. I reckon the Tube is the first FINGER touch screen. Looks like you needed a stylus to work the 7710.
