Today Verizon Wireless made a Web page live that advertises the imminent arrival of the BlackBerry Storm. The Storm is a touch screen BlackBerry that has what Verizon Wireless calls "global capabilities." Verizon didn't provide any more information, and gave no word on exactly when the device will be announced, but you can sign up for email updates concerning the Storm on the Web site.

+1, willv.
You are an idiot! This phone will be able to make calls unlike the fruit phone on the other side. Stability will be better then the fruit phone. The only thing that the fruit phone has over this is probably the easy scrolling with the hard glass. ...

Site down already??

Tried to go to the site this evening and I got re-directed to the verizon homepage.

Anyone else experience this?
Yeah it is redirecting me back to the main page

I registered last night around 7PM before the page was redirected. All you got was the screen we've all seen on the blogs. After submitting your address, you got a thank-you page along with words to the effect: "You'll be the first to know!".

I've ...

Verizon UI + cool phone = crippled POS. Its to bad a BB like this has to go to waste...
Theres no verizon UI you ignorant clown.

Get a clue, before you type.
People on this site drive me insane. Blackberries run BLACKBERRY OS, not Verizon UI.
You, sir, are a waste. Name one new phone that has "the Verizon UI" then we'll talk.

Get a grip...

Show me ONE Verizon Smartphone that has a crippled UI? Show my ONE Verizon Smartphone that has restricted Bluetooth?

The only thing I can think of that could even possibly be labeled as restricted on the smartphones is the A-GPS. Notice how I did not say GPS, because to my knowledge:

NOT ONE CELLULAR DEVICE OFFERED ANYWHERE IN THE USA HAS NETWORK-INDEPENDENT GPS!

Every single cellphone out there has a stripped-down, cheap as possible GPS technology in it that is incapable of providing GPS outside of a network coverage area, no matter what info Blackberry Maps may have stored in the individual memory of your handsets. If you are using the network operator's towers to power you location services, you should expect to pay a network ...

great post and I totally agree.

If you want a service, you should pay for it. Everything in the cell industry cannot be free ladies and gentlemen.
You can use Google Maps, Garmin Maps, TomTom Maps and Live with an AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) and with Garmin and TomTom you don't even have to have a sim card in the phone.

But otherwise, your point is well taken. And this is a damned nice phone.

MANY smartphones offered in the US have full feature GPS. The AT&T Tilt (aka HTC Kaiser aka HTC TyTN II) is just one example.

Some of those phones ALSO offer A-GPS in addition to normal GPS so that they can enhance the GPS service, but in no way a...
