A major international retailer today published details about a previously unannounced BlackBerry with a clamshell form factor. The 8200 series contains the same features as Research In Motion's Pearl 8100 series, including a SureType keyboard, trackball navigation, 2 megapixel camera, memory card slot, and quad-band GSM. An 8210 variant includes GPS, while the 8220 sports Wi-Fi instead.

This is news? Well.... I guess

BoyGenius Reports and other sites have been reporting on this model since April. I suppose it's news now that it's "official" and it looks like a cool little "entry smart phone" if I ever saw one. I think I'll get one for my mom and hold out for the G1. (or the HTC Dream or the GPhone or the "first android device" or whatever you'd like to call it.) At least it and the X1 are confirmed to have the AWS bandwidth so here in Oregon we should get T-Mobile's 3G around 2015. 🤣
Just in time for Sprint to move to 5g??

Let me guess, 8210 goes to ATT, 8220 goes to T-Mobile.
T-Mobile is suppose to get this by end of month in september.

and, is it just me or does it like just like the Samsung T719? (which was a huge letdown)
Yeah the T719 was a huge letdown because it looked like crap and looked giant. I think this new blackberry will be pretty popular. Especailly with teenagers who want the flip and a keyboard for texting.

Let me guess, TM gets this thing? A bit letdown after the Bold.

And what? No 3g?
Not previously announced? Isn't this just a renamed Kickstart?

A Blackberry flip is big news. Will be one of the hot phones this fall. America is nuts about flip phones & smartphones. Kind of harkens back to the days of the Moto MP 200 & 220, excep...

i wonder if tmobile will get the wi-fi version?
If you go to the webpage that it is listed on, and click on the picture to enlarge it, you can see at the top of the phone screen it says T-Mobile.

Not Quite

"The 8200 series contains the same features as Research In Motion's Pearl 8100 series"

Not really. Maybee the Pearl 2 when it comes to features.

The 8200 has a brand new operating system, higher end features, and the build of the phone is completely different, obviously.
