T-Mobile

Didn't T-Mobile announce that they'd have their entire data footprint covered in 3G by the end of the year?

Who would have more 3G coverage at that time?
T-Mobile early announcment only said "T-Mobile plans to continue the rollout of its 3G network across major metropolitan markets through the year." What they mean by major metro markets is about 20 markets.

They further clarified by saying "The ser...

No. I don't recall any such statement.

just BS or lying?

i just did 5 speedtest on Imate 9502 with HSUPA! upload speed is still under 300k!
wait, maybe they upgrade to HSPA next month?
i'm in San Francisco/Oakland area.
Imate 9502 does not support WCDMA/UMTS 1900.

Connectivity is present with quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and tri-band WCDMA (850/900/2100MHz) support

EGDE gets 220kbs..... HILARIOUS! Good joke dude

I use ATT because they are the only GSM carrier with 3g,but the 3g network in Phoenix is terrible. That coverage map tool that shows 3g coverage is very optimistic to say the least. There are so many spots where I lose a 3g signal and fall back to edge its almost not worth it to have 3g. Im talking about no 3G service out in the open in densely populated areas,Im not even gonna start about getting 3G in buildings, because I rarely get a decent 3g signal in any building including my house.

Whoever said edge gets 220k is smoking crack. Maybe in theory, but the absolute best speed Ive ever gotten from edge was 150k, and that was in the middle of the night within 100 yards of an ATT tower. 50k to 100k is much more typical of actual EDGE spe...

maybe you should move to San Francisco Area, i getting 3.5G all the time!
i have gotten EDGE at 180k
I have run multiple bandwidth tests where I work and have gotten as high as 205kbps with full signal and the tower about a mile or two away. Even with 3 bars I have gotten better that 120kbps.

Keep in mind that apparent speed can vary based not ...

What about improving 3G coverage?

Increasing the upload speed is nice, as is adding markets, but what AT&T calls 'blanket' coverage is more like swiss cheese. I understand blanket coverage is expensive, but what they're doing with they're 3G coverage maps is a deceptive marketing gimmick.
I would love to see them or anyone get 3G across the entire country as well. However, I don't ever recall them using the term "blanket coverage". Sounds more like something you'd get from a misinformed or misleading rep. And as for "deceptive marke...

Real speeds?

What are the real world speeds that people are experiencing with this?
I typically see 800-850 kbps on my Tilt, but it goes as high as about 1400 and as low as 600 depending on exactly where I am when I'm using it.
I connected my razr v3xx to my laptop and got 1.9MB download speed. 😳 😁 🙂 😉
