Samsung Soul Not Quad-Band

Although Samsung announced the Soul as a global quad-band GSM phone last week, Phone Scoop has discovered that the phone actually lacks GSM 850. Samsung today confirmed that the Soul will only be tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 + WCDMA 2100.

im at Tmobile so no biggie.
Unfortunately, you will still miss out on some roaming. Even though T-Mobile does not operate a native GSM 850 network, many of T-Mobile's roaming partners use GSM 850. This is why all of T-Mobile's newest phones feature GSM 850.

Will this phone make it to the US?

If this phone comes to the US what impact will the lack of 850 mean for users? AT&T or T-Mob?
The lack of 850MHz means not for at&t. I doubt we will see this on a US carrier for sometime.
A US carrier won't offer the current version, that's for sure.

You could import an unlocked one, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'd have serious coverage problems with AT&T and you wouldn't get full coverage even with T-Mobile.

well technically....

...it is quad band. just not exactly the four bands you'd want.

That's just how the Samsung PR rep tried to spin it. 😉 It's a nice thought, but ultimately it was promoted at MWC as supporting GSM 850, and it doesn't. ☚ī¸
