In a conference call to press and analysts, Palm CEO Ed Colligan admitted that Palm's new Linux-based operating system will not be available until the end of 2008. This represents a delay of an entire year of the long-awaited update to Palm's platform. Palm recently reassigned its Foleo team to work on the new Palm OS full time. Colligan said this new time frame will give Palm a better chance to offer a whole range of new devices when the platform is ready. Colligan promised that the new platform will be just as easy to develop for, and many applications will work on it once it is available.

Why Bother?

Why bother even working on a new operating system? Just use Windows Mobile or another OS and come out with some new, cool, thin, fun, and productive devices.

In other news. . .

Palm will be shutting it's doors for good shortly before the new operating system is set to debut. . .

🙄
Seriously. This is terrible news for Palm. I don't know if it can afford to wait a year.
