MetroPCS has added the greater Los Angeles metropolitan region to its coverage area. It already has a presence in San Francisco and Sacramento in California. MetroPCS does not require contracts and offers several different unlimited talking plans. MetroPCS already has six stores and 400 authorized resellers operating in the region, but in order to better serve the area, it plans to open 20 retail stores over the next two years. Customers who sign up will receive their first month of service for free.

Who is backing them?

Are they out there on their own like Amp'd, or are there people behind them like Helio?
they are their own company. they've been around for a few years now. they do not use any other company unless it's for a roaming partner.
MetroPCS is a publicly traded corporation and they have their own network, towers, and infrastructure
