Verizon has announced new partnerships and facilities to ramp up work on 6G mobile technology. The new "Verizon 6G Innovation Forum" brings together network vendors Ericsson, Samsung, and Nokia; as well as Meta and Qualcomm. Verizon plans multiple labs for research, prototyping, anf real-world testing of potential 6G technologies, starting with one in Los Angeles. Verizon highlighted some its intended priorities in this effort, including testing new radio spectrum bands and bandwidths. Another stated priority will be working with global standards bodies like the 3GPP to ensure that 6G is a globally-harmonized, interoperable standard.
