Prexar, USA Telephone's mobile unit, has agreed to buy certain portions of Amp'd Mobile's wireless assets and will take on Amp'd's customers. Former Amp'd subscribers will likely be able to keep their phones and phone numbers, and can sign up for new services from Prexar through the company's Web site. Prexar says that Amp'd subscribers should be able to transition their services seamlessly and without interruption. Prexar offers 4 different voice plans, ranging from $40 per month to $180 per month, and also offers messaging plans for additional charges. It offers three handsets of its own to new subscribers.

Same company is targeting Sunrocket customers? Interesting coincidences.

A look at the Prexar web site revealed the name "USA Telephone." That name has also come up at SunrocketForums.com. For the uninformed, Sunrocket is a recently-failed VoIP service provider that went under about a week or two ago.

Sunrocket's customers are being transitioned to some fly-by-night VoIP operation calling itself "Teleblend" which has claimed to be some sort of leader in VoIP services and claims to be well-known, yet nobody had even heard of them until a couple days after Sunrocket disappeared. All indications are that the Teleblend web site is brand new, the company has one or two monkeys (and admittedly no technicians) working for it, and is dropping the ball right out of the gate. Read up at SunrocketForums.com.

Tick Tick Tick

Yeah, who are they, and which carrier allows them to use thier network as a MVNO? Plus, how long before this company goes down?

What does it take to signup with Prexar Mobile?
Call Prexar Mobile today or sign up online now. You will need to provide the following information: Name, Address, Amp'd Mobile Number, Amp'd Account Number, Amp'd Password or Pin (If Applicable), Daytime Contact Number (alternate to cell if possible), Social Security Number, ESN/HEX/MEID (this can be found underneath the battery on your wireless phone).

As this is basically the same info you need to port your number to any carrier I fail to see how this is anything more than a slick plug by Prexar.
i think what were asking is who is this company. where did they come from . and how long have they been around. 😑
The "news" is that unlike any other carrier, they will allow you to continue to use your Amp'd handset.

Seriously. A cell company wants to acquire customers from a now defunct company? Really? Hmmm, could they be called..."Every phone company out there"? Why would customers choose this no-name company over a "real" one? The reality is that Amp'd custome...

Verizon?

Thank god I'm not an AMPD customer but I was wondering if people can activate their phones in Verizon's network?? I'm sure Sprint won't activate their handsets.
Verizon is a better choice than "PREXAR" , i've never heard of that MVNO!
Would Virgin Mobile activate those phones??????
Only VM USA phones can be activated on VM. Amp'd phones can be activated on Page Plus, or several other Verizon MVNO's.

WTF....

Kind of company is this...
That must be the worst wireless website i have ever seen. Plus look at the phones they offer. I know that this has been said already but 59.99 for 5000 Texts, WHAT A RIP!

This will defiantly not attract the same crowd that got Amp'd.

Oh, how unhip

I'd imagine letting friends know you're now part of the "Prexar" network rather than Amp'd would be a little embarrassing.
lol. true but hey at least the poor people who can pass a credit check or dont pay their bills have someone new to ditch out on.
