Netflix Testing Variable Speed Playback on Android
Netflix has been quietly testing a variable-speed playback option in its Android app for some users. The new "Speed" toggle offers options for 0.5x, 0.75x, 1.25x, and 1.5x. The feature is similar to one offered by most podcast and audiobook apps. Unlike a fast-forward or slow-motion feature, variable-speed playback includes audio, which requires extra processing to correct the pitch.

Google is starting to roll out new features in Search, Assistant, and its Google Podcasts app to make it easier to find and listen to relevant podcasts. Starting today, including the word "podcasts" in a search will bring up a new section with playable podcast results.

The most recent update to the Netflix mobile app adds a useful tool for Android device owners: subscribers can now download TV shows and movies to on-device memory cards. Netflix says a new setting allows Android device owners to select either their phone's internal storage or a microSD memory card when saving shows for offline viewing.
