Google's Duplex Feature Relies on Assistant to Make Phone Calls
May 8, 2018, 12:46 PM by Eric M. Zeman

Google today announced Duplex, a feature that uses Google Assistant to make phone calls. The Assistant can hold a full conversation with real people over the phone to do things such as book appointments. In the example Google provided at its I/O developer conference, Assistant called a salon to make an appointment for a haircut. Assistant was able to understand and respond to the human at the salon in a natural way to schedule the appointment. Google says this is going to be rolled out for testing in the near future.
