Twitter today suggested that users change their password. The company found a bug that exposed the passwords of some 330 million users and says people would do well to update their login. "We recently identified a bug that stored passwords unmasked in an internal log," explained Twitter. "We have fixed the bug, and our investigation shows no indication of breach or misuse by anyone. Out of an abundance of caution, we ask that you consider changing your password on all services where you've used this password." Twitter said user passwords were inadvertently written in non-hashed form to an internal log. Twitter discovered the bug itself, removed the passwords, and is drafting plans to be sure this doesn't happen again. Twitter users can change their password via the settings tools online. "We are very sorry this happened. We recognize and appreciate the trust you place in us, and are committed to earning that trust every day."
