SE Updates the Z550 With Quad Band

Sony Ericsson today announced the Z550a, which appears identical to the Z550i, except that the company has added the 850 band making it a quad-band handset. All other features appear unchanged. The Z550a has a monochrome external display, 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Memory Stick Micro slot, and a full HTML browser.

850 DOESN'T equal Cingular!!!

There are numerous mobile phones out there that have the 850 band, and haven't reached Cingular, it would be nice IF it was a safe assumption to think if a handset was 850 equipped that Cingular would pick it up, but Cingular doesn't want to impress any of us!!!
I'm sure there is a LOT of politics that go into releasing a phone. On the SE side, I wouldn't be surprised that if you want phone A, you have to also buy Phone Z. On the Cingular side, Cingular probably tells the manufacturer that before we sell yo...

Upgrade?

Why are so many phones getting crappy updates? Why not just go the T-Mob route and replace the phone with a new model?

Once again they disappoint me.

They release an update on quadband for the Z550, but what about all the other phones such as the W850? or the P990? SE releases an w830c, why not just quadband all the phones like moto and nokia? instead of releaseing a poor press release.

I totally agree! ! ! But the ONLY mobile phones that Nokia makes that are actually worth anything in multimedia features are NOT quadpand, such as the N93/N95, and heck, I don't know the model # but the 4GB/8GB music phones that Nokia makes, none of t...
