T-Mobile has added a coming soon page for a new ultra-thin candybar style phone. The Samsung Trace is a twist on the X820 announced earlier this year. First leaked as the T519, the trace retains the X820's 7 mm form but changes the features a bit. The Trace has quad band GSM / EDGE, with a 1.3 Megapixel camera, Micro SD card slot, Bluetooth and media player. Updated. The Trace will sell for $200 with a contract, before any rebates or discounts. Earlier marketing documents showed the phone is due to be released September 11.

Is there a document viewer in the T519 ?

My users guide says you can view Excel, PDF and word files. Does anybody know if this is possible?

It looks bad in person.........

I just got back from the T-Mobile store. I went with plans to buy the T-519 but once I saw it up close that idea went down the drain. The T 519 looks real bad, poorly designed as for style and actually seems larger than the T-509. The screen seems larger but equal in quality to the 509. I am dissapointed.........

yawn!

I'm tired of T-Mobile pushing out phones that look as thin as their coverage map 🙂
ouch, that hurts. But somehow we won a JD power award for being #1 call quality in the west coast... guess our "donations" to them paid off.
...
You're right, cause Cingular, Sprint, and Nextel all have better coverage, right? (Oh, they don't even HAVE detailed coverage maps??)Hmmm...

hot md guy needs to get a life! I assume that you're going to say that Verizon or Cingular have the best networks, whatever. Talk to the customers and don't believe everything you see on tv.

Samsung T519 T629 and Mac OS X

I'm new to GSM phones and Tmob (I'm currently with Verizon and thinking of switching to Tmob) and have never had a Samsung phone before. I was wondering if anyone knows how well these new Samsung T519 and T629 will work with Macs. Do you know if I would be able to iSync the address book via Bluetooth and also be able to transfer files and custom .mp3 ringtones via Bluetooth and my Mac? Thanks for any insight.

Also, I've heard from a few experienced cell phone users that Samsungs suck. The T519 & T629 models look great but should I heed their warnings about Samsung? How do these Samsungs compare to more reliable brands like Nokia and Sony Ericsson, which I get the best reports about.
I know nothing about Macs.

I do know however that Samsung is a good product
Well ,T-Mob doesn't support Macs at all, so customer care will tell you "no". Samsung might be able to hook it up, but you have to go through them. The bluetooth will work for files transfers, but check the file types, I believe most Samsungs prefer a...

Any price information please.?

Anyone have any information on retail price. Or any estimates.? 🤣
you can already get an unlocked version that isn't watered down (2MP camera), but it lacks GSM 850 - but with tmo i doubt you really need 850 (area depending)
...
I'd say $150. The t809/t609 are listed at $150 and are the same funtions. So far in our lineup for 1.3 mp camera's there is a slider, flip, and now a non-flip.
...
The price will be $199 with a 2 year contract.

It will be on a 2 year 149.99 with a $50 amil in rebate.

battery life??

TMO alleges 6 hours of talk-time for the TRACE. That sounds unbelievable for something this thin. Can anybody confirm this? If so, then I can't wait till the release.

I wonder if...

...Samsung will finally let us use custom sounds for text and alarms?

Or if the POS web browser will finally be better? EDGE didn't help the t509.
