Verizon yesterday announced availability of the first 3G data card for laptops with Express/34 or 54 slots. The V640 is a Novatel XV630 card that comes with Verizon's VZAccess Manager software. It has both EV-DO Rel. 0 and 1xRTT data capability. Dell began selling this card a few weeks ago as the 5700, however that model uses different software. The V640 software is compatible with new MacBook Pros, which feature an Express Card slot. Novatel also has an HSDPA Express Card, which PC Magazine was able to preview. The XU870 features quad band EDGE as well as tri-band HSDPA -with signal strength better than any of Cingular's 3G phones. Cingular has not announced if or when this card will launch on their network.

Verizon Strikes Again!

Signal strength better than any Cingular phone you say? Well of course! It's Verizon we're talking about here. Everything they have is better than Cingular's.
This is just another one of the ways we like to say "We're the Best".
😎
read the article again, it means that service is better than any cingular phone out using the cingular 3g card, its not comparing to verizon...
...
Dell will be releasing laptops sometime early next year with a slot for SIM cards built in if I remember correctly.
Once HSDPA/UPA is up and running on a decent scale we wont need no wimpy "Express Cards".
...
🤣 I can see why you work for Radio Shack.

Ohhh, that was low. I apologize to the rest of you out there that do.

Previewed these a month ago..

We have a demo card in our store about a month ago. It came with a dummy card and some info, It simply is amazing.. especially with 40% lower power demands for the card it will help keep laptop batteries longer lasting.

Sweet

Nothing has sucked more in the past 2 months than a customer that wants a data card only to find it's not compatable with their laptop. This should fix the issues.
Yeah same on the Cingy side, had a lot of people coming in with the new notebooks and had to turn them away to... nobody!

Apparently some customer told me once he had found an adapter for PCI Express to standard PCI, never seen it though.
