Facebook Has Shuttered Its Notify App

Facebook has closed Notify, an app it debuted last November to provide push notifications for breaking news and other content. Facebook notified Notify users this week that the app would be closed as of June 2. At launch Facebook had partnered with dozens of media companies, all of which agreed to provide content through the app's various channels. More than 70 content providers were participating in the program at the time of its closing. Facebook said the technology that powered Notify will be distributed to other products, such as Messenger. Notify was available for about seven months.
