YouTube today made it possible to stream 360-degree video live online and on Android devices. YouTube has supported 360-degree video for about a year, but today's change will let content producers push immersive video to people in real time. Google said it has partnered with select brands to get live 360-degree video off the ground. YouTube itself will stream a limited set of performances from the Coachella music festival. At the same time, YouTube is adding support for spatial audio. People can watch 360-degree videos and listen to spatially-tuned audio that changes as users move about the virtual 360-degree space. The new features arrive as companies such as Samsung, LG, GoPro and others offer 360-degree cameras as smartphone accessories.
