The U.S. House of Representatives today passed bill HR 2666, which could interfere with the FCC's ability to enforce net neutrality provisions. As written, the bill explicitly intends to "prohibit the Federal Communications Commission from regulating the rates charged for broadband internet access service." The bill is composed in openly broad language that opponents claim will effectively nullify the open internet order adopted by the FCC last year. "HR 2666 is a clear effort to roll back the net neutrality rules that millions of Americans asked for last year. Going far beyond its stated purpose, the bill threatens the FCC's ability to protect consumers, small businesses, and the internet economy," said Joshua Stager, policy counsel for New America's Open Technology Institute. The AOTI, EFF, and other organizations strongly disagree with the bill's wording. The White House has promised to veto the bill, should it be passed by the Senate. "HR 2666 would restrict the FCC's ability to take enforcement actions to protect consumers on issues where the FCC has received numerous consumer complaints," said the Obama administration earlier this week. "The bill also would hamstring the FCC's public interest authority to review transactions." The Senate has yet to consider the bill.

The so called Republicans are exacting the will of the corporate interests against both the people and their best interests. These companies are already making record profits - parking money off shore and manipulating our system. See it for what it is.
This is exactly why Republican can never stay in power. They have plenty of criticism while the Democrats are completely screwing up the country, but as soon as the people get fed up and give them another chance they go to doing stupid crap like this....

While I believe that anyone or any group (like the FCC) means well, price controls ultimately are counter productive. The bottom line is that no one is ultimately required to own a business that provides goods or services, especially those that humanity could survive without having.

This is why minimum wage and other artificial economic controls don't work. Once an outside player comes along and forces companies to "do the right thing," they, in turn, respond by charging higher prices (minimum wage) or laying off portions of their workforce (price controls). In essence, by solving one problem, our government creates another.
Sorry, but you seem disconnected from reality. Are you a Libertarian or something. I have a Masters in Marketing and Finance, and disagree with just about every word in your post.

@stepintime......I have degrees in accounting and finance and completely disagree with YOU. Price controls just create poor quality and shortages. Even Nixon tried it and failed.

How much failure do you leftists have to experience before you fin...
