Google Improves Chrome's Data-Saving Powers

Google is updating its Chrome browser for Android devices with the potential for greater data savings. Chrome can reduce web site size by 70% by compressing the pages and, now, removing images when loading pages over slow connections. Users who wish to see photos after the page loads may tap on the images to load them individually. The idea is to make Chrome faster and less expensive to use in areas where coverage is poor and data is pricey. The new data-saving feature is reaching India and Indonesia first, with other countries to follow.
