Apple Buys Database Startup

Apple has acquired a Virginia-based startup called FoundationDB. The company develops efficient database technology that can be used to process information at extremely high speeds at very low costs. The tech could be used to improve the stability and performance of Apple products such as iMessage and iAd, according to the Wall Street Journal. Apple confirmed the acquisition, but did not disclose terms of the deal. Apple has acquired 23 companies in the last 15 months, most of which were startups.
