OmniVision Technologies today announced that it is working with Almalence to improve the low-light capabilities of its products. Specifically, OmniVision is pairing Almalence's computational imaging algorithms with its own OV10823 and PureCel OV13850 image sensors. The result, says OmniVision, will be dramatically better image and video capture with these two sensors. For example, Almalence's low-light enhancement technology can reduce grain/noise without washing out image details. It can increase the effective resolution of the sensors as well to create sharper images and videos. OmniVision supplies imaging sensors to handset and tablet makers. It didn't say what companies plan to use the OV10823 and PureCel OV13850.
