HTC Loses Executive to Amazon
Mike Woodward, who since last year has served as HTC's president of global emerging devices, has left the company for a position at Amazon.com. Woodward confirmed his departure to Bloomberg, and said he'd left HTC at some point in the past 45 days. Woodward started at HTC in 2012 as the head of the company's North American business. A mid-2013 reorganization redefined his role in the company. Woodward didn't say why he left HTC, and neither Amazon nor HTC offered comment on the change.
Verizon CEO McAdam to Retire, Will Be Replaced by Vestberg

Verizon Communications today said long-serving Lowell McAdam will vacate his position as CEO on August 1. He will remain with the company as Executive Chairman of the Board through the end of the year, and then transition to a Non-executive Chairman role in 2019.

HMD Global today said Arto Nummela, CEO and member of its Global Board of Directors, will leave the company effective immediately. Florian Seiche, who has co-lead the company as president since its founding, has been appointed acting CEO in Nummela's place.

Amazon today made Alexa, its artificial intelligence, available to a much wider selection of devices by adding Alexa to its iOS mobile shopping application. Now any iPhone with the Amazon app aboard has access to Alexa, allowing people to search for and buy goods simply by asking Alexa for it.
