Verizon Lights Up AWS Spectrum in 22 More Markets
Verizon Wireless today announced it has expanded the reach of its "XLTE" footprint by 22 markets. Verizon's LTE network runs on 700MHz almost nationwide, but it has been adding coverage in the 1700MHz band throughout the year and marketing the dual-band 700/1700MHz coverage as XLTE. According to Verizon, four out of five of its LTE markets have access to this dual-band coverage, which is available in about 400 cities and towns across the country. Verizon didn't name the 22 new markets that launched today.

T-Mobile today said it plans to use some of its recently acquired 600 MHz spectrum to support a future 5G network. The company successfully won an average of 31 MHz (ranging between 20 MHz and 50 MHz) of the 70 MHz low-band spectrum auctioned off by TV stations and the FCC earlier this year.

T-Mobile has significantly expanded the availability of LTE service on its 600 MHz (Band 71) spectrum around the country. The Un-carrier debuted its 600 MHz service in Cheyenne, Wyo., last August.

AT&T today said it has launched what it calls 5G Evolution in 99 new markets, bringing the total of pre-5G markets to 239. AT&T is on track to reach its goal of 400 markets by the end of the year, and nationwide coverage during the first half of 2019.

T-Mobile today said its 600 MHz LTE is available in some 900 cities and towns across some 32 states. T-Mobile's 600 MHz spectrum, also known as Band 71, is being added to more and more phones.
