Twitter today announced new versions of its mobile application for the Android and iOS platforms. The most significant change to the app pertains to the two-factor security login option, which can now be used directly in the app without requiring the use of text messages. The app now uses push messaging and in-application approvals to verify logins, and can support verification for multiple accounts on a single device. The security features are now available in more countries and include online backups. In addition to the security improvements, Twitter for Android and iOS includes more social context in search queries and a new photo gallery for search results. Twitter for Android and iOS can be downloaded for free from their respective app stores.
