The Alliance for Wireless Power today said that the organization has met several key goals. First, the A4WP and its members recently successfully demonstrated the interoperability of its wireless charging specification between independently-developed devices and chargers. Now that the spec is proven, the A4WP will deliver a product certification program by this fall, which means that companies can begin to market their hardware as meeting the A4WP spec. The organization also reports that it has swelled to more than 50 members, including Intel, which joined late last month. Finally, the organization is now exploring a consumer-facing brand for the spec, which should debut before the end of the year. The A4WP is one of several organizations looking to gather support for and momentum behind its wireless charging standard. Others include Qi and the Power Matters Alliance.
