The Associated Press has now reversed a story written early today suggesting that cellular service was purposefully shut down in Boston in response to the bombs that went off there earlier today. According to representatives from Verizon and Sprint, neither company has received any sort of take-down request from the government or other organization. Both Sprint and Verizon said that their networks are experiencing heavy call and data volume in the Boston area, but that their networks are still up and running. The AP cited a Boston-area law enforcement official in its original story.

Why?

Why shut down those services when people most need them? Typical government BS.
It is actually smart because they were afraid of a remote detonating bomb (most common source is using cellphones).

i just said why lol. because of a potential detonation by cell phones.

cell phones were shut because of a potential remote detonator

Suspect used a cell phone ahead

That is the reason why they shut down the cell phone system afterwords....

so now they can see whats going on...
Apparently it wasn't deliberately shut down...it's just that immediately the traffic spiked and it overwhelmed the networks causing them to fail.....

So the networks going down seems to have been a lucky accident.

Seriously?????

It amazes me how peop are more worried about having cell phone service than they are of the potential of placing others lives in danger with cell phones being used for remote detonations???. At least the government took things serious enough in trying to avoid further danger of bombings. I say good for them. Grow up people.
They also found 2 more bombs that hadn't been detonated. I'm wondering maybe...juuuuuuust maybe that'd because of the cellular shut down?
