T-Mobile USA CEO Robert Dotson confirmed the company is still planning on launching a 3G network in 2007. The carrier must first wait to purchase spectrum for the network in the FCC's 3G auction, which is not scheduled until second quarter of 2006. Once bandwidth is purchased, T-Mobile then plans to build out a UMTS network during the second half next year in time for a launch in 2007. Unlike other Tier 1 carriers, T-Mobile does not own sufficient spectrum to launch an additional 3G network on current bands, so they must wait for the 3G auction. The FCC has delayed auctions in the past, up to a year. Any delays would affect T-Mobile's launch date.

once T-Mobile gets the spectrum, then DT will feed some money and technology to help building 3G or 3.5G (HSDPA)
the big profit of 3G is video conference, and lower latency
