PalmSource Switching To SyncML

PalmSource revealed that it would shift their synchronization from Hotsync to SyncML while at 3GSM. This change signals yet another step in PalmSource's shift from a PDA OS company to a Phone OS one. By switching to SyncML, PalmSource is allowing its users to access over the air (OTA) synchronization servers that many companies already have in place. They have installed these because most feature phones as well as most other smartphones use SyncML to synchronize contacts and calendars to devices OTA. This could also be seen as a move to ease the synchronization process for Apple owners who have Palm OS devices, as iSync also uses SyncML.

I swear, the problem with technology these days is too many standards making it much too difficult for consumers to have the IDEAL devices...
thank god this is the first step in the right direction.
