Qualcomm and Clearwire today announced that Qualcomm will add support for Clearwire's forthcoming TDD-LTE network to its existing line of multi-mode LTE baseband chips. Specifically, it will include support for 3GPP's Band 41 radio frequency. Clearwire and Sprint are in the middle of transitioning away from WiMax to LTE for their future 4G networks. Gaining support from Qualcomm means that Clearwire and Sprint will be able to offer their customers a wider range of devices that provide network access.
