Nokia today announced the availability of a new beta augmented reality browser for its Windows Phone Lumia devices. Nokia City Lens lets Lumia owners overlay web-based data about points of interest on top of a live view of their surroundings. Nokia says the beta application lets users see nearby landmarks and points of interest such as hotels, shops, public transport, and restaurants; fine-tune results by category; gives them easy access to user reviews and descriptions of local landmarks; and offers one-tap navigation. The beta app also lets Lumia owners share places easily with friends via SMS and other tools. Nokia City Lens Beta is a free download from the Nokia Beta Labs web site.
