A US appeals court today upheld a lower court's ruling that RIM infringed on patents issued to NTP Inc. However the appeals court has sent part of the ruling back to the lower court, stating it had incorrectly interpreted one of the terms in the charges. On notice that the appeals court finally came to a decision, RIM's stock jumped 10% early today, however it dropped again once the verdict was announced. Trading was temporarily halted, and the stock closed down slightly after it resumed.
