Cingular CTO Bill Clift said yesterday that the company plans to launch EDGE in the Indianapolis market in the next two months. Cingular plans to be the first U.S. carrier to launch the service. EDGE will provide data speeds 2-3 times faster than current GPRS networks. Clift said Cingular was nearly finished with its EDGE trial in Indianapolis, using Ericsson infrastructure equipment. The company will begin testing Nokia and Siemens EDGE equipment later this month.
