Samsung Demos New Low-Power LCD Tech

Samsung Electronics last week announced the industry's first 4-color TFT LCD technology. The new displays add a white subpixel to the usual red, green, and blue. The new displays can be up to 70% brighter than existing types, or in mobile devices where battery life is paramount, the new displays can consume about 50% less power while outputting the same brightness. The company displayed a 2-inch QVGA sample display at the SID Conference in Baltimore last week.
