Motorola Updates iTAP

Motorola today announced enhancements to its iTAP™ predictive text input technology. The new iTAP version 5.4 includes eight new languages, an enhanced user dictionary of "personalized" words, word completion, and smart punctuation. The new iTAP technology will be featured on Motorola phones including the C350, E380 and V600 models, available later this year. Predictive text input technology is designed to increase the ease, speed and accuracy of text input on electronic devices.

Google today updated its Google Search and GBoard applications for Android devices and expanded the number of languages supported in voice typing by 30. Google said it worked with native speakers of these languages from around the world to build the needed speech sample data.

Verizon Wireless will not stymie system updates for the Google Pixel phones, according to Ars Technica. Earlier this month, Google said Verizon would be responsible for pushing system updates to its variants of the Pixel and Pixel XL.

Qualcomm's Smart Audio Platform now supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Microsoft Cortana. The idea is to make it easier for hardware makers to add voice assistant features to their devices, such as smart speakers and other smart home gear.
