Nextel To Launch First A-GPS iDEN Phone

Nextel next week will introduce a Motorola handset that uses the Global Positioning System (GPS) to locate callers when they place emergency 911 calls. The handset, which uses assisted-GPS (A-GPS) technology, enables Nextel to comply with the FCC's enhanced 911 (E911) mandates. Sprint PCS and Verizon Wireless have also chosen A-GPS solutions to meet the FCC rules.
