Industry Groups Push For More 3G Spectrum

In documents filed last week with the FCC on the NTIA's recent 3G report, the TIA said the conclusion that 90 megahertz of spectrum should be made available for 3G services 'falls far short of the estimated 200 megahertz of spectrum needed for these mobile services by 2010.' TIA, along with CTIA, Nokia and others, says that making the 1755-1770 MHz band available should continue to be explored. Meanwhile, CTIA and several others are signaling strong support for the concept of a relocation trust fund. The money would be used to relocate government users from the 1710-1755 MHz band.
