Verizon To Expand Express Network Tuesday

Verizon Wireless is expected to launch availability of its Express Network service in several new areas on Tuesday, including Kansas City, headquarters for competitor Sprint PCS. The expansion will make Express Network available on over half over half of Verizon's wireless network. Express Network is Verizon's high-speed data service, based on the cdma2000 1xRTT standard. Sprint PCS plans to launch a similar network nationwide in a little over a month.

The MTA today announced that it has completed deployment of OMNY readers system-wide. This means that all 472 subway stations and 5,800 city buses in New York City now accept fare payment by tapping an NFC-equipped phone or smart device with any standard digital Wallet set up.

The Sprint brand is no more, as T-Mobile today completes its effort to bring former Sprint stores and other assets under the T-Mobile umbrella with re-branding. Most Sprint stores closed early last night to give employees time to conduct the T-Mobile make-over.

Apple today announced AirTag, the company's widely-expected competitor to Tile. The small circular device comes with several keychain-style holder options, including an Hermes luxury option.
