Sprint PCS Announces Intercarrier Messaging
Mar 14, 2002, 12:56 PM by (staff)
Starting April 1, 2002, Sprint PCS will enable its customers to send and receive text messages with non-Sprint wireless users through the new Intercarrier Messaging feature of Sprint PCS Short Mail. The ability for other carriers' customers to respond to Sprint messages will vary by service provider. This announcement leaves Verizon Wireless as the only major national carrier without inter-carrier messaging, although they are expected to make an announcement soon.
