Solid Engineering
On all the basics, this phone is excellent. Of course the key is the size & weight. It doesn't get much better. It was hard to get used to; I kept thinking I'd forgotten my phone somewhere, because I literally couldn't feel it in my pocket. I've had some very small/light phones before, but none quite as well-balanced as this. The key is that the size is small where it counts - thickness - while the other dimensions are large ...
Great for what it is, but missing key features
There are two main features that set this phone apart: the display and the camera. Both are simply amazing quality. The SD/MMC card slot is also a huge plus. I've had this phone for almost two weeks now. In most quality and performance measures, it's excellent. But it's not perfect. There are definite disappointments for such a high-end phone. PROs: - Display. Wow. Truly eye-popping brightness, colors, and resolution. - Camera. For a camera phone, this is as good at it gets at ...
Superb
PROs: * Stellar sound quality both in and out, using either phone or Bluetooth headset. * Excellent speakerphone. Very loud and very clear - both in and out. * Good Bluetooth implementation. Better than 3650; almost as good as a Sony Ericsson. * Excellent keypad and ergonomics. The keys are tilted up slightly (like roof shingles), making it easy to feel the rows of keys. Tactile feedback is perfect. The side "keys" are a hard plastic rocker that is much easier to use ...
Great Sound, Interface, but Poor Bluetooth and Slow
This is easily the best-sounding CDMA phone I have ever used. Even better than any Sanyo or LG I've tried. Sound quality is simply great. I haven't tried it outside of the city yet, so I can't comment on reception. For my needs, it's great. The interface is typical Sony Ericsson - excellent. Much more powerful and flexible than most CDMA phones. Once you learn the basics - specifically, the unique options key - it's very intuitive. The design and ergonomics are ...
Good value, but some flaws
In general, the 8100 is a good phone. It's certainly a great value - you'd be hard-pressed to find this feature set in a $500 phone, and of course this is much less. The main display is simply amazing - the best I've seen in any phone so far, although not the largest. It's brighter than the 5300, and even the Samsung A500. The colors are saturated and beautiful. The outer display is a bit disappointing. It's dim, and has some ...
Solid value, but lacks some key features
Overall, I am happy with my 1100. It is a good phone at a great price. There are just a few features I wish it had. Its strongest point for me is ergonomics. It is very small and "pocket-friendly" when closed, yet opens to a good size and shape, that fits perfectly around my face. I don't like smaller non-flip phones that place the microphone away from the mouth. Most of them work fine, but it just doesn't feel right ...
