I doubt it. To my knowledge, an HTC rom has not been successfully ported to a non-HTC phone.

If this is true, this is great news. It's one of the things that slightly worried me about the Hero.

You would have to get an entirely new plan, one with unlimited data. The cheapest one currently available to general consumers is $69.99 per month. You get 450 minutes, unlimited nights/weekends starting at 7 pm, unlimited AnyMobile AnyTime (unlimited calling to any mobile phone on any network in the US), unlimited messaging, unlimited data, unlimited GPS, and unlimited TV.

The HTC Hero is NOT going to be available on SERO. This has been stated through multiple sources and by multiple people. The Instinct and Pal Pre are also not available on SERO. You could think about getting a HTC Touch Pro2 - it's a pretty capable phone and should be available to work on your SERO plan, although it's quite expensive.

1) The phone does not have a hardware QWERTY keyboard, if that's what you're asking. There is an onscreen QWERTY keyboard, however, and if you turn the phone on its side you can use it in landscape mode. While it's nice to have a hardware keyboard, it also makes the phone bulkier and heavier, and learning to type on an onscreen keyboard isn't all that bad. 2) As of right now, it looks like you will ...

Well on my Sprint Touch I have the "HTC Mini USB Charger" yet I use a Motorola RAZR wall charger and mobile charger. The shape of the opening looks bit different but it's wider than that of the Motorola mini USB so those chargers will still fit it. I guess only time will tell but I WANT THIS PHONE! :-)...

I've heard from multiple sources that it ships with 1.5.

HTC doesn't really put flashes on their cell phone cameras. Look at the rest of the lineup on Sprint - no flash. Also, the charging port looks to be mini USB. This isn't really a proprietary format as other companies (e.g. Motorola) make phones with this style charger as well. All in all I think the Hero looks to be a great device and I'm definitely going to be looking into it as an upgrade for my outdated Touch.

Actually it's not a SERO plan - it's a discounted cell phone plan that I have through my employer.

Will this phone require a "Simply Everything" plan?

I am on a $29.99 employee plan that includes everything I could ever need to use this device to its fullest potential (unlimited data, unlimited text/picture messaging, GPS included, etc.), but Sprint has required its customers to use a Simply Everything plan on many of its newer devices (Instinct and Pre). Does anyone know if this phone will be available to those without a Simply Everything plan?

More Space

Does anyone know where all the space is taken up? Supposedly there's about 20 MB of built-in memory, and I've only downloaded a couple ringers, themes, games, and screensavers, yet I'm already out of space. How can this be?

It's a Best Buy exclusive.

T9 Issues Fixed?

I heard that this phone had some issues with the T9word predictive text input. Has this been fixed via software/firmware update? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Scott. Thanks for making this thread. My family is switching over the Sprint, and I absolutely have loved my LG VX6000, as I have been able to load my own pictures/ringers from my computer with BitPim. Do you know if the MM-535 has data cable capabilities to connect it to a computer, and can you transfer audio files (I understand they need to be in .aac files to use them as ringers) and image files ...
