Re: Can you turn off the flip answer?
The Answering Mode section in the Profile options is the exact same as the Hands Free section in the Calls Options. Both sets of options apply only if there's a hands free device or car kit plugged into the phone. These options also have no affect on the flip-to-answer and there is no known way to disable this feature.
Re: Game transfer
I honestly don't know. However, if there's nothing on the phone you care to keep and/or you have everything backed up (including contacts and such) you might try going to the options menu and on the very bottom of the first tab there's a "Master Reset". When you click the right softkey while highlighting that, it pops up an info page about it that includes this: "Note that you may lose content that was in the phone at ...
Re: Game transfer
Ignore my previous post. I went dyslexic there for a minute. My apologies. AFAIK, you can't transfer from the phone to the computer but you can indeed transfer from the computer to the phone. You're going to need free app called "floAt's Mobile Agent" which can be found at http://fma.sourceforge.net
In that program there is a menu called "Action" and in that menu is an "Upload" option. Click that and then browse your computer for the .jar file ...
Re: external display image?
The picture on the external display is assigned by the theme you choose to use. Unlike the background on the main display, it cannot be changed independantly of the theme.
However, if you buy a data cable, there is a free Theme Creator utility from Sony-Ericsson that works fairly well. All you do is copy the theme you are using from the phone to your computer (this won't work with the one Cingular provided theme as it is copyright ...
Re: The Z500 really IS a good phone...
"doesn't come close to the ability to personalize as Motorola does"
I'm not sure I agree with this. Appearance wise, I think both phones are pretty equally customizable. Granted I've spent a LOT more time with the Z500's interface than the v551 but both phones allow for wallpapers, screensavers, and themes. However, the Z500 also lets you change the exterior faceplates and lets you use animated GIFs for the wallpaper. I'm not positive but I don't recall that the v551 ...
Re: The Z500 really IS a good phone...
I too think that generally speaking, the v551 and the z500 are very comparable. They have a lot of the same features: EDGE connectivity, mp3 ringtones, VGA camera with video recording, voice dialing, speaker phone, and Java enabled. Granted, the v551 is smaller, has a slightly larger TFT display rather than the crummy CSTN the z500a uses for a main display (though I've been told there's also difficulty seeing the 551 outside) and it has Bluetooth, but there's also ...
Re: How to View Z500a Photographs??
If you haven't returned the phone yet, go here:

That will take you to the Sony Ericsson File Manager page. It's by far not the best app in the world but it will solve your problem. After installing and rebooting, you'll see an icon on your desktop labeled "My Phones". Open that and a cell phone icon with a flashing yellow checkmark will appear in your system tray. If your phone is connected and nothing goes wrong, the the ...
Re: MP3 ringtones?
I also use audacity and it works great. My phone goes to voicemail after about 30secs so I drop the settings in audacity to pretty much the lowest quality and make 15 - 30 second clips of my favorite songs... the result is files that only take around 75 - 125 KB each.
I've tried using higher quality mp3 clips as ringtones but on the phone when the ringer volume is relatively loud, I really can't hear much ...
Re: Reading text messages from the external simply doesn't work.
Well, despite what my manual says, that feature doesn't work at all on my phone either. I just tried it twice. For reference, my date code is 04W52.
Re: Game transfer
As far as I know there's not. This is probably to eliminate any chance of all the games ending up publicly available on the net for free.
Re: External Screen as self-portriate view-finder????
It is possible but like many things on this phone it's quirky. If you're phone is in standby (the external display is either off or showing the ugly clock) you have to first take it out of standby by either pressing one of the external buttons or by opening and closing the phone. Once you've done that, keep the phone closed and press and hold the external camera button for about 2-3 seconds. The external display will ...
