I went from a Palm device to my iPhone. There were so many different aspects / applications I too was concerned about. Especially Notes... Calender & contacts were an easy transition. Best to have them backed up now on Outlook and / or Google so they can switch to any phone in the future. Or even contact your carrier for their input on this important matter.

My first iPhone was 16G 3GS. Paid $150 & sold 2yrs later for $150. Spent 1st yr learning system. Loaded it with about 100 songs lots of pictures, maybe 1000 and some 50 home videos, average length 2Min. Long story-short - my next phone was iPhone 4 32G paid $170 used, sold it on 9/21 for $260 and bought iPhone 5 64G 2hrs later.... It holds 5000 pictures, 200 home videos and about 350 songs, maybe 120 APPs plus ...
